I love traditions. I always have and always will. Living away I have loved to start my own traditions. Traditions as a family and for myself. I have learned traditions don't have to be huge and over the top. In fact the best ones aren't. I think the best ones are often small and simple including you, and people you love. A tradition to me just has to meet two requirements. It has to be something you do yearly, and something that has meaning to you. Mum day has turned into one of my traditions.
This is a tradition I started five years ago when we moved to Harrisburg. I found this darling farm where you can dig your own mums, and buy fresh produce and pumpkins. I decided five years ago it was going to be my tradition to load up whoever was with me, and head out for mum day on a cozy fall day. That is exactly what I did. I took Catherine and Sammy in tow, while the others were in school for the afternoon and headed out to Oak Grove Farms.
The cornfields are beautiful this time of year. Talk about good corn mazes.....
There were pumpkins a plenty. I ended up with more pumpkins and gourds this year than mums....they were just too tempting.
Cath was my helper....
I think she was a little embarrassed of me taking pictures of her again...
This changed when she got to hold Sammy for a picture.
She was thrilled.
Although he did get heavy pretty fast.
It was a great fallish afternoon.
Tonight is huge in the Sumko house, and millions of other Americans. The superbowl of politics. Lets get the debates started. We are pulling out the popcorn, and peanut m&m's. Crossing our fingers. May the best man win!:)
ps.... we all know who that is.!!

That sounds like such a wonderful day. I love fall so much and my favorite fall tradition is going to the apple orchard. I know we don't know each other at all, but I absolutely adore your blog. It's full of happiness, optimism, honesty and humor. Keep blogging and have a great fall!
