Expectations!

So I seem to learn the same lessons over and over.  One of the things I am continually reminded of is that although expectations are good, they are not always realistic.  I am an idealist.  I have always had a picture in my mind of what I have wanted as far as major things in my life.  I am a dreamer and a planner.  So I always am picturing in my mind how I think and want things to be.  Whether that be with where I am going to live, how my kids will behave, what I am going to do with my time, basically everything....

Fortunately I usually see things through rose colored glasses.  I mean I have my moments..... but  I really like, and try to see the happy things in life.  This was ingrained in my upbringing.  However, I am constantly reminded that things don't turn out as we envision them, and I am continually learning that I have to be alright with that.  If things turned out the way we envisioned, I guess we wouldn't be tested.

I know expectations are good to have.  But I am learning that realistically the best view is to realize that although we can plan and prepare for things to turn out certain ways, we have to be flexible and strong in how we handle them.  Don't sweat the small stuff.....that is my theme for the week.

Speaking of expectations.....Catherine is turning two and I envisioned having this darling party, the sun shining, and beautiful cake.  Well let me tell you......that is going to be a far cry from reality.  My cake flopped (I tried fondant...didn't work), the sun is far from shining, and the party is turning out to be friends eating burned cupcakes crowded in my little kitchen (again because it is raining).

But if life were perfect and as planned I would envision this.......

and a cake that looks like this

Well......so much for expectations:)  So off to try and fix burned cupcakes:) Goodness I love my little Catherine!!!!

LADY!! Your blog is so amazing, and you kids are SOOO CUTE!!!! I miss you - and I am so inspired by everything that you try. If I lived closer I would have helped you burn those cupcakes - I am good at that. Also I NEED to know how you made Catherine that headband extraveganza.. It is over the top awesome, and the hairless Sushinator needs one for her bday too! :)
