It was a beautiful Thanksgiving weekend in the East this past weekend. The best part for me was without a doubt the company. Some great memories were made, and traditional Thanksgiving meal was served. I feel a huge amount of love and gratitude this weekend. We were all a bit more tender this year forging traditions ahead. Some great memories were made with my Dad and brother. They are so kind and loving, and I was reminded and grateful for their calm and loving way. It made it a wonderful weekend.
I put my husband in charge of the turkey and Billy in charge of the mashed potatos. It made all the difference in the preparations. They are forever assigned:) The rest was cake walk:) I was a bit nervous the night before Thanksgiving when at midnight my husband announced he was going to brine the turkey. He had his computer up and running viewing the food network homepage. I didn't quite know what to expect. Afer much deliberation and a medical explanation to why the turkey would turn out spectacular....I caved and consented.
The afternoon of Thanksgiving with all guests in place Mike ceremoniously started to carve the turkey. It was a 20 lb. turkey and he was perplexed as to why it just didn't seem to have much meat on it. We couldn't figure it out for about ten minutes. It seemed I had found a weird shaped turkey. Until my brilliant Dad had the idea to turn the turkey over. We discovered we had cooked it upside down. All was well, and their turned out to be plenty of turkey. Shwew......(makes for a funny memory).
Of course setting the table and the centerpiece was a favorite part for me.....
Artichokes and hydrnageas were the theme....kind of random, but two of my favorites!:) Why not mix right?
I must say the memories of Thanksgiving 2011 will go down as pretty unforgettable in more ways than one:) Thanks fam.:)

One of the best Thanksgivings ever! And one of the most delicious Thanksgiving meals ever, I might add...from the appetizer soup all the way to the three different types of pies. Thanks so much again for hosting us. We have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving and no better way to celebrate it than with family. Love you guys.

I am so glad you had fun. But I thought that was so funny that you cooked the turkey upside down! That made me laugh. But you are such a great girl to cook the dinner for all your family. I am proud of you. That takes some doing with three children and one on the way. I loved your centerpiece.
